The Houses in Astrology Part Two
In astrology, each house represents different dimensions of experiences in which energies of zodiac signs and planets unfold. Here’s part two in a two-part series on the houses in astrology. There are almost endless details to explore, but this perspective can help you build the framework for a better understanding of your natal chart.
The Seventh House
Opposite the First House, the seventh provides insights on intimate partnerships and marriage. The planets or ruling sign for this house also contextualizes our experiences with business partnerships, rivals or enemies, and close friendships. You can gain insight into how you manage, maintain, and nurture these relationships by analyzing your Seventh House.
The Eighth House
This house influences sex, taboos, death, resurrection, and other people’s possessions. Inheritances and loans can also be influenced by the Eighth House. The energy here is much slower, coming heed to symbolic endings. As the house of mystery and rebirth, the eighth house governs merged energies. Negative karma we’ve accumulated may also surface in the Eighth House. Occult studies and astrology are indicated here.
The Ninth House
Philosophy and higher learning are principals of the ninth house. Our ideology, worldview, and education are influenced by our Ninth House placements and zodiac sign. This education we gain can come from institutional learning, or by traveling the world. Immersing ourselves in other cultures and perspectives can help us understand what our own belief systems are. Constructing and improving our perspective will be an on-going process led by Ninth House energies.
The Tenth House
Here, our social status and vocation manifest. Opposite to the Fourth House, our more “Saturnian” parent can also be indicated here. The Tenth House is all about the impact we make on others, on the world at large. This house can indicate the career path and how visible it is to the world. Most importantly, this house governs our reputation, legacy, and what we leave behind.
The Eleventh House
The Eleventh House is commonly called “the house of friends” which truly represents how powerful we are in the collective. It represents the social circles we participate in at large (not just our close friend groups), and how we participate in social systems with others. Networks of special interest groups may be indicated.
The Twelfth House
The furthest dimension from our conscious reality, the Twelfth House rules the deepest parts of our psyche. Our intuition, dream world, hidden activities, illicit behaviors, and secrets are all influenced by our twelfth house. Karmic energy swarms the twelfth house, as the realm between our past and future lives. Opposite to the Sixth House and physical health, mental health is indicated by here. It has also been associated with hospitals, coming undone, and illusions. To me, this is the most psychedelic of all the twelve houses.
