Crystals for Your Sun, Moon, and Rising

Crystals For “Big Three” Zodiac Placements

I was first introduced to crystals, minerals, and gemstones from a metaphysical perspective about ten years ago. Back then, I focused on some of the basic stones that were easy to access from my local pagan shop. Rose quartz, clear quartz, honestly a lot of quartz in general. This makes sense not only for quartz’s abundance and variety but also because they’re easy to source where I live in Western Ohio.

Over the years, my collection grew not only because of my own investment but gifts from people in my life. A significant portion of my collection came from a longtime friend, Joe, whose father was a Geologist, Mineralogist, and so much more. It’s an honor to possess and utilize these crystals from his collection, sourced all over the world. Argonite, smoky quartz, calcite, and even million-year-old fossils are in my collection thanks to Joe and Steve.

As I found my way into an astrology practice, it only made sense to connect with the alchemy of my crystal collection, lunar cycles, meditation, and more. A friend gifted me the book Crystal Zodiac, which broke down for me what the different corresponding crystals to each of my big three were.

In case you’re wondering, it’s Ametrine, Larimar, and Smoky Quartz. With these crystal zodiac guides, you’ll the match for your sun, moon, and rising, too.

Crystals for Each Moon Sign

Your moon sign changes every two days, and is very personal to the location, time, and day of your birth. This placement corresponds to the patterns around your emotional expression, sense of nurturing, and how you care for yourself and others. Your instincts often come from this placement. Every year, each zodiac sign experiences a New Moon and Full Moon.

Crystals for Each Rising Sign

The rising sign indicates how a person may see the world, experience the environment around them, other people, and how they form a perspective on life. Your rising placement depends on an accurate birth time (down to the minute!) since it ingresses into a new zodiac sign approximately every two hours. Many astrologers recommend that the Astro-curious read a horoscope for the rising sign rather than the sun sign. I find many people feel more “connected” with their rising placement. I recommend that you read a horoscope for your sun and rising, even the moon when significant lunations occur.

Note: Your rising sign will also be referred to as the ascendant or ASC
