My Favorite Astrology Resources

Let me be clear: nothing can beat a reading or mentorship from a professional!

However, not everyone has the resources (time or money) to have a professional guide them. Fortunately, there are some pretty great resources out there for independent, self-taught astrology students. Below you’ll find some of my favorite astrology resources, and how I use them. Additionally, I would like to note that I am an iPhone user and use Spotify to listen to podcasts. Make use of what you have access to!

AstroFuture - App

I use AstroFuture on a daily basis. I love the visual snapshot it provides for daily transits, which are customized for you based on the natal chart data you enter during the signup process. Also, you can add profiles for friends, family, etc. with ease (and for free!) From there, you can create synastry charts and also read their daily horoscopes. The descriptions are frank and honest, but not unkind or brutal (unlike some other apps out there). This is a great app for those who have some astrology knowledge, and are looking to explore some technicals (such as houses, aspects, and degrees) without being overwhelmed.

Cosmos and Psyche - Book

Written by Richard Tarnas, this epic account of astrological archetypes, historic implications, logical applications, and much more is an essential read for all astrology scholars.

TimePassages - App

Another of my daily go-to’s, TimePassages offers a much more in-depth description and view of daily transits. Additionally, I love that TimePassages provides a much deeper context to both natal and synastry charts (compared to AstroFuture). You can add other people’s data to the app (for a small fee) which I have personally found to be very worth it considering the detail provided. I love that this app provides a more technical description of daily and long-term transits. This would be a great option for someone who has a strong foundation for astrology, or those who want to start diving really deep.

Ghost of a Podcast - Podcast

For the last two or so years, I have tuned in to Jessica Lanyadoo’s Ghost of a Podcast every Sunday. In 2020, Jessica began dropping hot-take episodes every Wednesday in addition to her weekly Q&A and horoscope to start the week. This podcast has been a part of my “get ready for the week” ritual, and I have learned so much from this podcast. Not just astrology information, but also mental health, mindset, activism, and community-support resources also. Regardless of your level of astrological knowledge, you’ll gain so much from Ghost of a Podcast. Note: As a huge Lanyadoo fan, I also highly recommend her book Astrology for Real Relationships.

Labyrinthos - Website, App, Products

This has been my number one reference and resource for tarot, but Labyrinthos also offers some excellent astrology insights also. If you’re looking for a comprehensive explanation of houses, signs, aspects, planets, and more — look no further. Labyrinthos has an expansive library of content. If you’re semi-new to astrology and want to dive all in, you’ll want to visit their website and app ASAP. It’s hard to believe all of this amazing content (and teachings) is FREE to access!

The Astrology Podcast - Podcast

Hosted by Chris Brennan, The Astrology Podcast is one of, if not the most, comprehensive astrology-themed podcasts available on the interweb. Along with his various hosts (including reoccurring visitors like Austin Coppock whose perspective I adore!) Chris lays the groundwork for astrology in an archetypal context, as well as in real-time with lookahead episodes that deep-dive into astrology’s articulation IRL.
