Venus: Love, Money and Values
Planet Venus: For the love of money
Venus governs love, and also money. It’s our aesthetics, tastes, desires, material possessions, that we adore. Venus is also used when determining compatibility between two people.
Although usually, these comparisons are for romantic purposes, the Libra in me knows how impactful Venus is on our non-romantic but close relationships too. Think friendships. co-workers, clients, employees, customers. Venus guides what we value, and more often than not, our relationships are at top of the list. Additionally, the planet Venus rules over money and “things” but that doesn’t equate to excess or hoarding.
Just because Venus rules money doesn’t mean earning, saving, or growing wealth is easy. Air-sign Libra and earth-sign Taurus find their ideal comforts with Venus. Love feels natural, and profitability seems attainable. This is where aspects (such as squares, conjunctions, oppositions, and trines) can either empower your Venus placement or apply serious pressure. There’s layers to experiencing your Venus placement.
In addition to aspects, house placements also play a key role for Venus in our natal chart. (pssst.. want to make a natal chart on the fly? Check out this website.) The second house is renowned as the realm of material possessions, values, and successes. Venus has the most strength and success when placed in the second house. But once again — aspects are important!
For example, if one were to have Venus in Taurus in the second house, that would be considered the most domicile placement. Things can turn quickly though, with a hard aspect to Jupiter or fire signs such as Aries. Conversely, Venus can also thrive outside of Libra or Taurus placements, and outside of the second house.
In the fourth house, Venus works hard to set out and create a beautiful life for its family, especially if the sign Cancer is involved. However, hard aspects like opposition to the moon could indicate unsettling, emotional conflict around this desire. Lived experiences come into play of course, but it’s worth noting potentials.
This is where we can start to see the value of looking at Venus for work as well as our personal lives. The type of job we want, the lifestyle (and earnings) we yearn for, and the ways we express our joy for these things all revolve around Venus. When we work jobs that do not align with our “true self” we often feel unaccomplished, dissatisfied, and hopeless. Venus rules our value system, and our labor and earnings should consciously express what’s authentic for us. Our individual experience adds up to the collective afterall.
Time and time again we hear entrepreneurs talking about walking up one day out of the blue, and everything felt “aligned.” What this probably means is, they finally started listening to and embodying the authentic desires of their Venus placement. When we step back from not only desire, but values, and operate on autopilot, we end up with the consequences of unconscious choices. That’s not what anyone wants.
The things you wish to materialize into your life reflect the deepest desires of your Venus placement. If you find yourself to be unbothered by the glamour of material possessions, you may find more value in the company you keep. Zodiac sign, aspects, and houses add layers of meaning to your Venus placement.
