Uranus in Astrology

Uranus represents the eclectic, electric, and unexpected parts of our life. Discovered on March 13, 1781, Uranus was transiting Gemini, just 10 days from the end of a Retrograde. Interestingly, Neptune’s discovery was also marked by the planet being Retrograde. Mars in Sagittarius Opposed Uranus at the time, and the Sun in Pisces formed a Square to it.

In Modern Astrology, Uranus rules Aquarius and the 11th House. Uranus governs Astrology, invention, freedom, eccentricity, progress, and shared interests. It’s a future-focused planet unconcerned with intimacy and uncompromising with setbacks. Authentic autonomy is a key part of Uranus’s identity, regardless of what zodiac sign it is in.

The general energy associated with Uranus is restless, inconsistent, irritable, preoccupied, unusual, independent, and abrupt. Aligning with our Uranian nature can help us be more transparent and innovative. Always being attuned to what’s ahead means Uranus benefits from grounding practices. Perfectionism may be an unexpected symptom of a strong Uranus placement.

Uranus rules the internet and technology, as well as individuality and stubbornness. Social and societal elements to the planet include personal freedoms, liberation, enterprising, and distraction. Mindfulness and group meditation are a perfect Uranian tonic.

It spends about six years in one sign, transiting all 12 in 84 years. Most of Uranus’s transits in our Horoscope will be once-in-a-lifetime events, unless the person’s Birth Chart depicts a prominent, exact Uranus Aspect and they live past 85 years old.
