Venus in Astrology
Love, romance, intimacy, security, abundance, possessions, and wealth all fall under the beautiful umbrella of the planet Venus. Co-ruled by Taurus and Libra, Venus is connected with both the Second and Seventh Houses. Next to Mercury, this is the most social of the planets. Our love language is flavored by our Venus placement: my 12th House Scorpio Venus functioning as a healing respite for the traumas of my husband and best friends’ sensual Taurus placements and tender Cancer ones.
Our food preferences, sensory processing, and aesthetic are informed by Venus. Due to its Libran nature, it is a diplomatic planet. How we relate to others stems from the conditions of our Venus placement. How friendly, warm, or even off-putting we are, relates to our Venus placement and the Aspects to it. Venus likes to get close—and can be self-sacrificial in the process.
How we wear our hair, the clothes we prefer, and the way we take our coffee are all part of our Venusian tastes. Venus also represents our values and personal finances, stemming from its connection to virtuous Taurus. Those with emphasized Venus placements in Aspects to Saturn or Jupiter could struggle with people-pleasing, or overspending, among other things.
Venus rules our values, and how influential they are over our life. It’s not uncommon in my experience to find people feeling disconnected with their values, and likely, disconnected from their Venus placement. What is important to you? A Cancer Venus my answer that by saying family, and a Sagittarius Venus by saying freedom and travel. Dive into the archetypes and themes of the zodiac sign in which your Venus resides. There, you will find insight on what matters most to you, and what you want from others.
Approximately every 18 months, Venus will Retrograde. During this period, several themes may arise. These may include unfinished business, money trouble, missed connections, being under/overdressed, or reconnecting with a former lover.
